Apprenticeship: Five-year inside (commercial) apprenticeship, three-year residential electrician apprenticeship, and three year Voice Data Video Technician apprenticeship
Electricians install and maintain electrical power,
communications, lighting, and control systems in residential, commercial, and
industrial buildings. On the jobsite, they occasionally work in confined spaces
and/or heights. Electricians read and follow blueprints and specifications for
installations. During installations, they may bend, fit, and fasten conduit
(pipe or tubing) inside partitions, walls, or other concealed areas. All
electricians must adhere to the requirements of the National Electrical Code
and comply with state, county, and municipal code requirements..
Requirements
Must be at least 17 years old at the time of application and 18 years old when placed for employment.
Must pass the aptitude test with a 4 or better.
Valid driver’s license
Successfully pass a drug screen
Must have completed one year of high school algebra or one semester of college algebra with a passing grade.
High school diploma or GED
Commercial / industrial apprentices will complete 8,000 hours of training. Residential apprentices will complete 6000 hours, and telecommunications apprentices will complete over 6000 hours of training. All apprentices will receive over 180 hours of classroom-style learning at one of our training centers each year.
